You would think after being a mother for over five years, I would have introduced fresh peaches into our kids diets. Ironically our first daughter used to love them as toddler, but for some reason I’ve been buying the Del Monte peaches soaked in syrup. Call it lazy, or convenient, but it’s over. Peaches are in season, are so delicious…I couldn’t resist them this week.
I had intended on working them into a dinner recipe – but when the hunger pains turned to cries before supper was ready, I decided to just reach for a peach instead of crackers. Plus I wanted to give them an easy One New Food this week since last week’s steak and snow pea stir fry was such a disaster.
The girls loved seeing the pretty peach cut open and checking out the pit inside! “Like an avocado mom!” Our oldest wasn’t sure of the fuzzy texture though, I assured her she doesn’t have to eat the skin.
But better tasting than an avocado right? Well our toddler thought so….she gobbled up her two bites and then some! Unfortunately Lila begrudgingly ate her two bites and gave the rest to her little sister. At least she tried it, and without any protests. Major ‘W’ for mom!
I’ve been so impressed with how many people have jumped on the #ONENEWFOOD train! Echo from The Mad Mommy participated again with stir fry, and Joann from A Whimsicle Life shared a photo on instagram of her homemade waffles, but this week I have to give it up to Traci Cummings of Your Wellness Journey! She not only fed her kids grilled asparagus, but let them wear rain coats at the dinner table to make the experience more enjoyable. Well done Traci! (And I will be copying this tactic next week!)
Now it’s your turn! Lauren from Oh Honestly and I want to start our own kid food revolution, and we need your help! Please join us in our #OneNewFood journey…and if you are a blogger, you can link up below. All posts will be pinned and shared!

Way to go!! My kids don’t like peaches either, so the fact the Lila willing tried the two bites even though she didn’t want more is a win in my book!

Scarlet just got into peaches this year. It’s been a good summer of new foods! I dig that.
The peach skin gives me the heebies too! It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. I can’t even think about it! However. I do love peaches.

I made peach jam for the first time this summer and the kids loved it. I know it has a lot of sugar, butt he good side was that while cutting the peaches the kids started eating the fresh peaches and loved them. They eat them all of the time now. Win on that one! Sending you our new week’s food via twitter in a minute 🙂
