Tis’ the season for overbooked schedules, tired families, and cold & flu season. A couple months ago it was the stomach flu – and this week we’ve caught a bit of the sniffles and sore throats. While we’d all love to be snuggled up in bed totally vegging when we’re feeling under the weather, life and responsibilities go on. But when time does stand still – is there anything better than a chick flick?
I always seem to find comfort in my favorite classic movies – which got me thinking (Carrie Bradshaw)…what are the best chick flicks to help you when you are feeling blue?

You forgot When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride 🙂 I’ve never seen Emma – might have to change that…

Princess Bride is in there! I’m not a Billy Crystal fan…. (I know I know…)

Love your list. Many of my favorites are there, especially Sweet Home Alabama…I am a Josh Lucas fan too. I also love In Her Shoes, The Notebook, Someone Like You and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days for a few more!!
mommyinsports says
How to lose a guy is a classic! How could I have missed that?!

Okay… I’ve seen all of these except Pride and Prejudice.
I love… Love Actually. We watch it every Christmas but you’re right, I can watch it any time of the year.
My hubby and I had an underlying movie theme for our wedding. For our tables at the reception we had the names of romantic movies instead of numbers. It was fabulous… and made for some good dinner conversations too!
Wishing you a lovely evening.

SOunds like an amazing wedding! But how could you NOT see Pride & Prejudice! Bucket List Jennifer….I’m serious!

Ahh, I love this list!! I’ve seen 6 of the 10, so that’s not too bad, right?? I’m a sucker for the Jane Austen movies and I think you’re exactly right to put Pride and Prejudice as #1.
Also, can I give you a virtual high five for including Bring It On? As stupid as they all were, I love the teen movies from the 90’s… maybe because I was a teen in the 90’s.
mommyinsports says
yes! Love teen movies still!

Love Actually is one of my favorite movies of all time! So good. I generally can’t watch movies more than once or twice. Not sure why. I think I burnt out on Ferris Bueller as a kid and I haven’t recovered.
Bad TV shows are my thing!
mommyinsports says
ooooh…we need to do an ask away friday bad tv shows! It would be awesome…Silver Spoons, Mr. Belvedere….the sky is the limit!

Every single child in our house was throwing up on Tuesday night and then me on Wednesday. I love all of these movies on your list, but ended up binge watching Green Arrow!
mommyinsports says
OMG! THat’s the worst…are you ok? What’s Green Arrow?
Anne Marie says
What a GREAT list!! I was a cheerleader growing up and so Bring It On is basically “required reading”!

This is such a great list of movies. I love “Pride and Prejudice” and my husband and myself watch “Love Actually” every Christmas. I like to watch “Moulin Rouge”. The funny thing is I hated it the first time I saw it, but now I watch it every time it’s on tv. Something about Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. I’ve never seen “Pillow Talk”. Looks like I’ll have to add it to my list.
