It’s hard to believe that I’ll be celebrating my sixth Mother’s Day this year…especially after so many years of fretting that I may never become a mom. And even more surprising was last year, all I wanted to do on this cherished day was close the bathroom door! Sure I love the birthstone jewelry, the handmade gifts and cards, and the breakfast in bed, but I seem to feel burnt out at the end of the school year and just want some time to myself.
I wondered if other moms felt the same way I did and held an unofficial poll on my Facebook page. I was surprised not only by the number of women who answered, but by their honesty as well! So what do moms really want on Mother’s Day? My favorite answer was,
Cecelia Dumas – My dream Mother’s Day is to have a one day/night hotel stay by myself where I get room service and a spa treatment. I may allow the hubby to join me that evening, then let the kids enjoy the pool before checkout. #justbeinghonest”
Read the rest here in my first feature on the site Bonbon Break. Enjoy…and feel free to just forward that article directly to your hubby’s! Mine was shocked when he read it and said, “OK then, spa day for you.”
Mission accomplished.

I do love spa days but I really love calling the shots on my day. That means, both boys (my husband and son) do whatever I want to do…and we do it as a family. This often includes watching Days of Our Lives with me, eating at a vegan restaurant and walking/running to the beach together.

I do appreciate my alone time and maybe when mine are older I’ll appreciate it more, but after a couple hours to myself I miss them like crazy! Now the cleaning up and cooking I can def do without! ha

I read this article yesterday over there! Great Job! Yes ,we want alone time. A moment to just be us and not worry about anyone else or anything. Is that still possible with my 4 kids? I hope so!

I read this on BonBon and it’s great! All I want for Mother’s Day is a nap and a good dinner that I don’t have to cook!
