“She said I could plow her fields whenever I want. I’m not sure what that means, but I like it!”
Wise words from this season’s newest Bachelor Farmer Chris, on ABC’s longest tenured reality show. I mean…how can anyone not tune in?
I have been glued to The Bachelor since season one, when former Miami HEAT dancer Trista Rehn was let go on the Final Rose. There was something magical about the quest for love, rose ceremonies, and the intimacy and vulnerability of heartbreak. Fast forward 19 seasons…and the network is still slaying it, and still finding 25 women who will date one guy.
I have met several show contestants randomly in the past 12 plus years; we ran into Bachelor Bob in Vegas, I interviewed Rehn on Sun Sports (now Trista Sutter after marrying her hunky firefighter), and met the villainous Juan Pablo at Marlins and HEAT games. And even though I know most of the show is staged, I still watch. I can’t help myself really…and read Reality Steve’s spoilers. It’s my guiltiest pleasure, and I’m teased about it by our television and radio announcers when I work Miami HEAT broadcasts. (Especially after I tweet about it on Monday nights!)
So I polled a few friends, bloggers, and co-workers to find out why intelligent women and men continue to watch this show. Here’s my article on She Knows, please let me know if you are a viewer as well! (And please share the article if you like it!)

I did watch the season with Trista, but that was the only one. I just can’t do it(don’t hate me!). I love your article though!
Tamara says
I’ve never seen it, but I look forward to your article! I read Us Weekly so I do feel like I have a grasp of some of the names of the more famous ones!

I watched the season with Trista and then have not watched since. My Mom is hooked and feels as if it’s a terrible tragedy I don’t watch it. I don’t really watch any adult television these days. Someday I will get caught up I promise!

Really?! It’s ok, I’ve never watched any other shows either!

I don’t know how I missed this post! I loved your article! My husband and I both watch and love to laugh at it. I agree with everything Nicole said in your article. It’s a nice escape. I loved the last episode with Jimmy Kimmel! Also, what’s up with them continuing to blur out that one girl?
mommyinsports says
so glad that you liked it! And yes Kimmel was great, made up for the horrible wedding crasher date!
nicole says

mommyinsports says
Haha! That’s the one guy I didn’t like…Sean!
Jen says
Girl how did I miss this post? I was going to comment on the reese’s cupcakes but then my favorite Bachelor ever scrolled across the top of the screen and I was all like HOLD ON. Obviously my favorite bachelor ever is Prince Farming. He is, hands down, my new Monday night obsession. I look forward to Mondays now.
Your article is awesome and I am so happy I’ve come to know you as a fellow Bachelor-lover!!
mommyinsports says
Isn’t it fab?! I am obsessed with the Bachelor and will forego sleep just to watch the ridiculousness of it!
Anne Marie says
I’m not going to lie, I have never seen an episode of the Bachelor! I just could never get into it! But I don’t hate reality TV…I am OBSESSED with the Real World/Road Rules Challenges and Real Housewives (mostly ATL since that’s where I live).
I think we all just love watching the craziness that is on these shows….even though we know so much is scripted (at least partially) these days.
Echo says
Ok, I am going to be completely honest here, I have NEVER seen the bachelor. Yup, totally just said that.
